Shadow Self

Most of us associate our Shadow Self with the unconscious, darker, socially unacceptable, learnt even demonic aspects and behaviours of ourselves. This has an opposite, dualistic aspect that Jung calls the Persona, the conscious, innate, ideal, socially acceptable expression of ourselves that allows us to fit into our chosen family or group and be part of the collective. These two aspects are portrayed as separate and labelled as good or bad, light or dark. They are in fact 2 sides of the same coin; we are all made of the same stuff with the same potential and free choice to do anything.

Our shadow self is made up of the more negative, learnt, selfish aspects that include everything in the list of poisons and deadly sins, prejudice, gluttony, greed, pride, ignorance, and desires that lead to all sorts of guilty secrets and addictions. If we hide or deny these and don’t own, heal, and integrate these parts of self, they only grow and fester in the background where they can become unconscious driving forces in times of threat, fear, stress, or loss.

The shadow self is also influenced by astrological alignments, as we in the microcosm have positive and negative aspects, so does the macrocosm, the planets and constellations have a light and dark energy that helps us grow and develop according to the cycles of time, highlighting our extremes so we can see what needs to be worked on to enable us to take the middle road once again. These are the uncontrollable unconscious behavioural patterns, the reactions we do out of instinct when under the influence of alcohol or stress, when someone has pressed a few of our buttons or touched a nerve. When we regain our equanimity, dependant on how bad the behavioural outburst, we feel increasing degrees of stupidity, embarrassment, or shame, which can often lead to a downward spiral of psychological events as our inner policeman, the ego, tries to rationalise and remedy the events, often resulting in us projecting the issue on others, finding a scape goat to gaslight, and smugly thinking it has taken the spot light off us, or more commonly, go into a state of cognitive dissonance shutting it out pretending it wasn’t you.

We are made to feel guilty about our behaviour and advised to seek help in the form of talking therapies or psychotherapy and even prescribed pharmaceutical remedies that have many major side effects. Most of us with a conscience and a heart are affected in this way and adapt our behaviour as much as possible to fit in.

Now there is a whole range of grey before we reach the state we associate the shadow with being dark. The more selfish, abusive, controlling, greedy, hedonistic, immoral, and advantage taking behaviour we are in volved in, the nearer to the dark we get. We cross a line that is hard to come back from and have become what is termed, ‘turned to the dark side’ when we enjoy the pain and suffering, we inflict on others and even encourage those around us to join in.

I come from a school that believes, there is no grey, that grey is a shade or DEGREE of dark, if it isn’t light, it is dark. If something is done for personal gain, selfish ends, to the detriment of others or causes lack or loss to others, it is not light. If it is done for the common good, to help mankind, to help the less well off or disadvantaged, if it is done unconditionally, it is of the light. Over time we have been psychologically manipulated and taught our worth is only measured by material gains and assets and strongly encouraged it is good to gain these assets by all and any means.

There is another level of darkness that is very much overlooked. There are those that are overtly involved in these dark arts and at some point, they will be held accountable, but these people/beings can only do this because we let them. Whether we turn a blind eye out of fear, fear of loss of limb or life, fear of losing that which we love, whether we don’t want to upset the apple cart because we might be demoted or lose our job, whether we can’t say anything because we only have a few years to get our pension, whether we can’t say anything because they know something about us that we are ashamed or guilty of, or whether we are bought and paid for, we too are just as accountable. If we cross the road to avoid another’s suffering, if we turn a blind eye to another’s suffering, if we allow our brothers and sisters to suffer at the hands of another and do nothing, we will have our hearts weighed against a feather and suffer the consequences.

It may not outwardly seem so, but we are in a very exciting time, being referred to as the Great Awakening. In this time, we are being shown a higher level of shadow, our shadow governments, and their puppets, that have been forced out of their dark hiding places for us to see.  Slowly bit by bit we the masses are seeing issues that don’t add up or we know are wrong, criminal, or outright evil. Where we will see that most of what we have been taught in our education systems and told by our media is detrimental to our overall health and wellbeing, and the best sensible choices we can make most of the time, are the opposite of what we are being told to do.

Over the last twenty or more years there has been a trickle of brave whistle blowers shinning a light on our shadow governments, the military industrial complex, big pharma, banking, big tech, media, world economic forum, and all the other establishments and NGO, s and their self-serving machinations, and we now see most of the ills that have befallen mankind for millennia, have been caused and manipulated by these shadow beings and their alliances, to steer us along their predestined path.

On one level we are starting to see the root cause of our desires, drives, and actions, that we assign to the shadow self, we have created in our own minds, often out of perceived trauma, with a big chunk of parental and ancestral programming underpinning all the programs that run-in cycles throughout our life. On a higher level we are being shown the illusion and narrative of these controlling, unelected, self-appointed, governments, ruling bodies, councils, cabals, and crime syndicates, that are collectively referred to as a shadow government. I use the singular noun as they all have a common purpose, the control and subjugation of humanity.

This time is called the Great Awakening because the trickle of whistle blowers, that until now, they our overlords or rulers, have been able to control disappear or suicide, is about to become an uncontrollable flood. As we become self-aware and conscious of our own triggers and shadow aspects and learn not to react to the unconscious programmes that stop us connecting with our divine aspect and innate power, the shadowy puppet masters are having a light shined on them, and their dark spells and controlling mechanisms are being broken. Their house of cards is being attacked; the curtain is being lifted. It has been a long battle, a long and winding road to the top of the mountain. The mountain doesn’t terminate in a peak as the top was taken out in an earlier assault.  It now spreads out onto a large plateau, protected by a sea of beings of various DEGREES of grey, trying desperately to defend a position when so ridiculously outnumbered.  Where arrogance and cognitive dissonance won’t let them see they have already lost and doesn’t stop them taking ever more desperate actions to defend their cause and ultimately seal their own fate. How long this continues will be determined on 2 factors, whether they surrender gracefully or hold onto the ‘do or die’ attitude, whether they realise there is healing, or their ego will not take the defeat and would rather die in the field than surrender.

I leave you with this quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, although often misunderstood, is aimed at those that still sit on their hands.

‘To be, or not to be,

That is the question.

Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,

OR,  to take arms against a SEA of troubles,

And by opposing, end them’.

Love and light in harmony

Alan

Are there blocks in life that stop you progressing, stuck in an unfulfilling job or unloving relationship?

These are common situations people find themselves in out of familiarity because it is seemingly easier to put up with, than change, or we feel we don’t deserve better. These scenarios don’t have to continue and are often major issues we need to learn to overcome in this lifetime.
